Welcome Dr. Sheena Wisler – OB/GYN

As we help celebrate Women’s Health Month, I am excited to announce that Alpine Women’s Centre at Montrose Regional Health has added a new physician to their team. Dr. Sheena Wisler started seeing patients in August and is excited to be in a place where she can build long and lasting relationships with her patients. Our community has asked for a female OB/GYN and we are fortunate that Dr. Wisler chose MRH!

Wisler grew up in a small Parish in Louisiana called Pointe Coupee where she enjoyed ballet and contemporary dance. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Louisiana State University (LSU) while she was chosen to be on the national champion Tiger Girls dance team and performed at all the basketball games and some football games. She went on to earn her medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed her Internship/Residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. She met her husband, Ryan during a study session for their Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) 10 years ago and they have been married for 3.5 years. Dr. Ryan Wisler is an Internist who joined Cedar Point Health Internal Medicine in Montrose.

What is a Gynecologist?

A gynecologist is a doctor who specializes in women’s reproductive health. Obstetricians care for women during their pregnancy and just after the baby is born. They also deliver babies and Dr. Wisler stated, “I am so lucky – there is nothing like being able to help a mom during a delivery.” Dr. Wisler helps women deal with some of the most important health issues in their life including birth control, childbirth, and menopause. She can also screen for cancer, treat infections, and perform surgery for pelvic organ or urinary tract problems. “I feel that the daVinci Robotic surgery system is the best thing for women” said Wisler. “It’s minimally invasive technology that decreases bleeding, scarring and recovery time.”

The Wislers are avid skiers and after a trip to Keystone they were hooked on Colorado. They visited several places before agreeing that Montrose was the perfect place to do what they love; skiing and mountain climbing. Climbing 14’ers is one of their favorite past times and they are both also training to run marathons. Dr. Wisler said, “everyone at MRH has been great, I have amazing partners, and I’m excited to have access to so many places where I get to do what I love.”
